About me
Born in St Petersburg, Russia, and raised between Lithuania and Russia, Anita Winterz is a self-taught artist now based in London, where she has lived since 2006. Her artistic journey began quietly, as doodles created during moments of reflection and rest, but in 2021 she turned this lifelong habit into a serious creative practice. What started as a way to unwind as a stay-at-home mother soon grew into a deep exploration of colour, emotion, and the intuitive mind.
Working primarily in ink and paint pen on paper, Winterz creates intricate intuitive doodles - spontaneous compositions that blend deliberate mark-making with unfiltered expression. Her process is guided less by planning than by presence. Each line follows the rhythm of her thoughts; each colour reflects a mood or state of being. Layers of calligraphic ink form the base of many pieces, over which she adds detail with markers and paint pens, building a visual language that feels both meditative and alive.
Although entirely self-taught, Winterz approaches her work with the curiosity of a researcher. Over recent years she has been experimenting with colour theory and the psychological impact of hue, exploring how subtle tonal shifts can alter the viewer’s emotional response. Her pieces are not only visual compositions but also studies in perception - how colour, movement, and form can quiet the mind or awaken reflection.
Psychology and nature are recurring influences in her art. She draws inspiration from the organic patterns found in leaves, stones, and water, as well as from the ways human emotions mirror those same natural rhythms. To Winterz, intuitive drawing is a bridge between the inner and outer worlds - a method of transforming fleeting thoughts into tangible form. Through her art she aims to remind others of the restorative potential of creativity: that art need not be perfect to be meaningful, and that the act of creating can itself be a form of balance and self-care.
Winterz’s philosophy is simple yet profound: everyone can create art. She advocates for accessible creativity and encourages viewers to approach her work not as distant observers but as participants in the same process of discovery. Each piece invites quiet contemplation, a slowing down - a chance to feel rather than analyse.
In addition to her visual art, she shares insights into her creative process and philosophy on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, where she continues to build a growing community of art enthusiasts.
Through her evolving body of work, Anita Winterz represents a new generation of artists redefining what it means to create intuitively - transforming personal reflection into universal connection.
